Suspension or Wheels first??

Is it better to buy the rims first and then lower accordingly or do the suspension first, then get the rims?

I'm itching to get some 19s but am not sure what i should do first.

Rims and tires first. Suspension (springs, sway bars)/proper alignment/camber adjustment as soon after that as you can. Remember, any one thing you do aftermarket affects everything else on the car because the car was designed and tested in total--not piecemeal.

I am doing a tein flex coilover setup first then probably in a year from now some sweet 19s. The stock 18s are really nice anyway and they have the best tires you can get on them.

G35Hunter: Go with the wheels and tires 1st. In my experience, not only will you get to enjoy the benefits of better handling right off the bat with extra grip, but you'll also get the most important (IMHO) cosmetic change you can do to your car. Plus, once you lower it (with coilovers) you'll more likely than not have to do it only once for the street set-up.

If you want the looks more than yea go with the rims and tires. If you want better handling/cornering go with coilovers. I dont see how you will get better grip with 19s and some good rubber as opposed to stock 18s and the michelins, unless if you go wider. But anyway there aint no way new rims/tires will have greater handling benefits that a good coilover setup with stock 18s/pilots.

Re: Suspension or Wheels first??

If he goes to a 19" he is going to have to go wider....IF he wants to keep it as close to stock diameter as possible. No way around it. As far as handling goes: Yeah, the RIGHT coilovers AND the RIGHT shock/strut will provide better grip on 18"s Vs. going to a 19" rim/tire without a coilover set-up.
