03 G35 Sedan Install :) Pics here
Just got done with the newest G install, this one a 03 Sedan.
The goals: 1. high sound quality 2. Mainting a low key stealth look in the trunk, and save as much trunk space as possible 3. maintaining the spare. lets get started. the signal chain starts wtih the Eclipse AVN 6600 Double Din nav unit, supplied by the customer, its installed via the double din finisher (too bad on the color). Note the DLS bass control and the Eclipse IPOD connector is in the upper cubby for easy access and concealment: The front stage consists of a DLS ultimate UR36i 3 way compoentn set. The midbass is installed in the factory lower door location. First i took the stock moutning cup, dampend it and the semi-sealed it with breathable carpet then new wires are run through the door to the speaker and then the entire door is dampened: the midrange and tweets, as usual, is flushed into the factory kicks whcih are then dampened as well: as for the rear door, the customer supplied a pair of sound stream coaxials, they are iinstall int he stock location, and is being powered off the headunit diretly (bose amp bypassed) to improve bass response in the cabin, the stock bose sub was removed, what a PAIN! lol, with the three piece rear seat back and all that jazz...but it certain helps the trunk lid is also dampened: finally the trunk...here is the view with everyhting covered up, aside from the 4080 box, the trunk space has only been lessened by about 5 inches. the reason why the 4080 has a black grille is that it came to the customer broken, so i bonded it back togheer, sanded it, and grille clothed it. and here is the view wtih everyhting open. an elemental designs 11ov.2 10" sub sits int he 4080, a DLS reference RA50 5 channel amp powers the system. the front four channels are bridged to send 200 watts a side to the front components, and the sub channel is pushing the ED sub with 400 watts. The amp and the passiver oxvers from the front stage sits in a suede lined well, and the front plate is covered wtih plexi and my logo ![]() overall, sounds really good, perhaps its the more spacious cabin of the sedan, it certainly sounds a bit more airy than the coupes...

Anyone have a DIY on how to paint the finisher and cubby hole cover to a black?

that is a sweet install. this just makes me want to install a amp/sub more and more. i noticed that you didnt dampen the rear doors. was there a reason for that? i only ask because i plan on dampening more parts of the car this weekend.

the erear speakres are powered off the headunit, and faded forward, and doenst cuase any rattles...
it comes down to budget really... if you are doing it yourself, and not paying anyone, heck, go out, dampen as much as you want if you dont mind the extra weight ![]() but when i do installs, usually i try to balance the stuff that would make the most difference. Erwin, how about picking up a black one, and when i get another 03-04 G install in, i can get him to pay you for your old one and we do the swap and stuff all at once? |

Very nice and clean. By the way, where in San Jose are you? I may have to take a trip over there.

Bing, I will look into getting a new finisher. Anyone ever try cutting the oem finisher to fit a double din though, just wondering?

Very nice!
Have you ever had problems with the grille on the 4080 box being too close to the sub to stay on? I have a 12" one with a Boston G5 and the sub knocks it off.
