best way to fix this chip?

So long story short, the adhesive remover I used softened my paint when removing my side molding and I took some paint off in the process. There is now a chip and some scuffed up looking area. I am wondering what the best way to tackle this would be. Do I just treat it like a rock chip and hit it with some paint and then clear coat and buff it, or is there a better approach?
