So far - 6 months - 2004 G35 6MT

Hey, I haven't posted too much since I bought the car earlier this year but I felt like making a little progress thread. I work at an auto shop on the side of being in school so it made this level of maintance cost me no where near what it should.

I have the luxury of running oils through the engine, transmission, etc... Until the run clear to make sure there's nothing left

First month in January 144,000km
- Castrol SPT full synthetic oil change + OEM filter
- Checked all fluids, components, and electronics to gauge lifespan, made a list

Third month - Late March 149,000km
- Full synthetic oil change + OEM filter
- Full synthetic transmission and differential service
- cabin and engine air filters
- checked spark plugs

Sixth Month - June today - 153,000km
- Cleaned throttle body and intake valves
- Oil additive to lift carbon deposits, etc... From crankcase - Coolant service
- Fuel injector cleaning
- replaced clutch fluid

In 750-1000km I'll have my next synthetic oil change, checking on the dipstick after some spirited driving I can tell the oil additive is doing a great job cleaning things up. Normally I don't use additives but I lost the rough idle the car had and it feels and sounds so much smoother.

She drives like she's brand new, is amazing on gas - always premium - and has no leaks or mechanical issues. Now that all of that is out of the way I can start from a clean slate, not a sluggish broken one.

First repair needed is the driver side window motor, driver side door lock not locking through remote, and driver side 6.5" speaker occasionally cuts out. Any thoughts if these issues are connected In some way?

Aside from that I be ordering sway bars, rally spec coilovers as well as every bushing, 19" wheels staggered on a good set of summer tires.

Then I'll be doing an exhaust and full intake and have the car dyno tuned. During this period I'll decide whether or not I'll go supercharged or twin turbo. I have a performance shop that I have an amazing deal with so just weighing my options and seeing what my end result should be.

Oh yea I guess I'll get a front lip, charger rear and sides, as well as a vented carbon hood but those can wait until I have the performance to back them up

Not much on additives but what did you use, how much, how often that you feel cleaned up the intake valves?

Run Rite cleaning system from the Mr. Lube I work at. Not something I believe needs to be done regularly unless there is a reason for it or if you're not taking care of the car in the ways you should.

Considering that this is an 11 year car I decided to gradually clean and change every fluid because I can't be certain what the previous owner did or didn't do.

Best advice is listen to your car as if it were a patient at a hospital. Does the exhaust tone or start up vibrations feel rougher than normal? Does it have a sluggish pick up? Are you using more gas than regularly under normal conditions? Is your clutch pedal sticking, groggy, or generally feels bothersome?

These are some symptoms that will tell you if the car needs anything. If it doesn't show any symptoms then you don't need to do anything aside from normal factory specified maintenance (Unless of course you exceed factory expectations of how you drive the vehicle).

Yes sir and thanks Saw a number of different mishaps occurring with products like redline so I opted for the factory synthetic.
