04 Versus 05?

Hi Everyone!

New member because I am looking to buy a G35. I have done some research, as well as stared at a lot of photos. I have decided that I like the G35 better than the G37. I can afford both, and know that the G37 is technologically superior, but I just like the look of the G35 better. Especially the rear end. I think the rear end of a silver/gray G35 is what got me into these cars.

I am trying to decide between an 04 and an 05. I don't like the look of the 06 refresh. I know that 05 has some improved brakes and interior. But when I stare at the pictures, there is something about the 05 that looks different to me. I can't quite put my finger on it, but the 03-04 looks lower and sleeker, with a more angular rear end.

Am I just imagining it? I am not sure, because I have read notes here and there of the front and rear bumpers being "revised" for 2005, but I can't find any good pictures for comparison.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks, but this thread, like most I have seen, treats the 03-04, and the 05 as the same, and essentially contrasts 05 with 06. I think that the 03-04 models look different than the 05.

The exterior of the 05 is nearly identical to the earlier cars. They started using the 19" Rays in 05 on some models. Some may or may not have splash guards and they stopped using the Brembo brakes.

No 06/07? It would be worth getting either of those years for the projector headlights alone. Plus nicer tail lights, well in my opinion.

I like the newer model STRICTLY from the interior standpoint... But I have a 03-04 that I swapped the 06 interior into... And modded the crap out of...

I like the 03-04 simply for the brakes lol proj headlights u can install urself when u get the chance. the power improvements imo are negligible. the big selling point of the new version is the interior if that's important to u. for me it wasn't. id get the 03 and use the money u saved to mod it

Although I like nice interiors too, I place the highest priority on exterior looks. I am probably going to get an 05, but I wanted to post the question because everytime I look at the pictures, the 03-04 cars look the best, and I am not sure if there is an actual difference in the body panels or its just my imagination.

For some reason, the 03-04 models look like they are sitting lower, and the rear end looks more sculpted and "edged," which I like. But to get that car, I would be sacrificing the better interior of the 05, so I was hoping to find out for sure, since I can't really take an 04 and an 05 car and park them side by side.
