I wanted more up-to-date car reliability information that included actual repair rates. So in late 2005 I started getting people together to make this possible. TrueDelta now updates actual repair frequencies, not just dots, four times a year, to track cars closely as they age.

We've had excellent participation by G35 and G37 owners, with nearly 1,000signed up. The more participants we have, the better the information we can provide. So I'm grateful that I was granted permission to post this thread.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, participants receive full access to all results, not just those for the G35, for free.

We have updated results for the G to include owner experiences through March 31, 2010. In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2006: 50, better than average

2005: 65, about average

2004: 32, better than average

2003: 74, about average

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds," to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop.

The percentage with no repairs is about 51 for the 2003, 83 for the 2004, and 69 for the 2006, while the percentage of lemons is about 3 for the 2003 and less than one for the others. These stats require more data, so we don't yet have them for other model years.
