Fluke or Precursor to a Problem?

Was driving my 2008 g35x home from vacation yesterday (600 miles). I was doing about 55-60 mph when I let off the gas but my engine stayed revving up to 2,200 and drop to 2,000 and kept doing that until I hit the gas again and it stopped. I tried to repeat it but could not do it so I thought maybe it was a fluke incident but I wanted to check with everyone and see if that has ever happened to them. And did it lead to anything or was it a fluke.

I wouldn't consider it a fluke, but may not be a big deal. You ever clean your MAF? When its dirty you can have throttle position issues because of incorrect air metering. Could just be something as simple as that.

I have not yet. I cleaned it a touch when I put my Z1 intake tubing on but have yet to clean it again. I do have times at idle at a red light where my rpms drop from 600 to 400. I want to clean but the tubing was such a pain in the *** to fit on I am reluctant to take it off the throttle body.

It did wonders for my car. I had that same issue at idle for awhile, and my car even stalled once when I threw it in neutral down a hill going 75mph. Pretty cool. Haha

Anyway, got some CRC MAF cleaner and never had a problem since. Solid idle, smooth rpm drops between gears, etc. You can honestly feel a bit of a power bump too if it's really dirty.

MAF and throttle body cleaning was so easy with the diy on the site.
