Scotty's red LR coupe

I haven't had my G for too long, bought it in about August of 2012 at 74K for only $9,000

Figured I'd start a build thread since I have tons of plans for my car, so far hadn't done much modding but I figured if anyone likes looking at pictures of our cars as much as I do then I might as well post some pics!

This is the first pic I took of my car, after it's first wash

Showing some of the lights that were installed..

After repainting my grill gloss black (it was done really half-assed) and painted the bumper ducts black as well to match. Also did my calipers LR. One of my neighbors hit my car and didn't leave any insurance info FML

Around this timeframe I ran into the window motor epidemic so I replaced that, also installed a 10" Alpine Type R in a ported box in the trunk

I between waiting for my replacement bumper (got a good deal from Jaygotboost with a Gialla lip) I painted my emblem just for kicks since I plan on doing a Gialla grill here soon

Bumper came looking better than I expected so I proceeded to install it

This is where I'm at now, sorry for a ll of the iPhone pics. My car is nowhere near being ready to be professionally shot but I certainly do plan on it!

He means your wheels need to be pushed out more toward your fender. Time for some spacers.

Lol. You know LR means Laser Red correct? "My Red LR" ... just pulling your leg. Decent start for a "Sporty" look. My only suggestions would be to get spacers ASAP, get clear corners and remove that red emblem.

Lmao that's embarrassing

Suggestions are appreciated, all food for thought I'm not 100% sure where I'm going with the look but so far so good.

Black on red is a tough sell on me but I'm well aware of the fact that many like the look and I'm glad you're able to work towards something you like.

As mentioned above, changing the stance on your car will change the car... period. Tall tires, gap, sunk... in combination with the black rims really emphasizes the stance. Not to rag on your car... not my intention- as much as to say if you correct even 1 of those things you will substantially alter the profile of your car.

Drops can happen cheap or you can get as expensive as you want. Some guys swap out springs with 350s which drops the profile enough to make it look much cleaner- others elect for aftermarket springs or coils... not ALL changes need to be excruciatingly expensive. Spacers are a no brainer in this case- though I'm not 100% sure which spacers you'll need for those rims. What was suggested to me is you take some washers and stack them up on your hub posts... then put the wheel on. Keep stacking washers until you get the clearance you want. Take the washers off and measure. Other guys can do it by offset but it doesn't really account for the profile of your tire-

I needed something VERY simple and that worked like a charm.

Your tires also look like they're a 40-45 or so... again- all about preference but they do look a bit balloony on a car that I'm sure you intend to be sleek and aggressive (black on red generally aspires to be).

I'm no fan of overlays either... but I have more of a clear / polished theme for a reason. Guys who like the dark on red.. well- they use them. Yours seem darker than most I've seen...Could get result in undue attention by the police- depending on how they are in your area.

Anyway, just thoughts.

G35 Coupe
I like everything but the red front logo, tinted head and tail lights and the red painted calipers.

Eno I really appreciate all the feedback and suggestions. Like previously stated my car is a work in progress, any suggestions by anyone here have validity I think and are something I take the time to consider. Spacers/Coilovers are the next buy for certain, going with Megan Coilovers and probably some used spacers off another member but I look forward to getting these parts installed and posting pics!
