Re: AFTERMARKET INTAKE OWNERS---READ ASAP
Oh man, i think I have a good fix though as mentioned by Dabomb. Ill get some rubber or plastic tubing to cover the AC line for the remainer of my lease (2 years) and to stop the rubbing. And now it would be useless since theres still a leak, I think I could patch the leak with some liquid metal patcher or welder then get the ac coolant refilled or "recharged". Does anyone think it will work? Martin

Dude,
Great catch! I followed your instructions and I was able to a !/4 inch gap between the MAF and the a/c line by also putting a spacer on the 350Z tube. Take the intake tube loose at the throttle plate, remove the bolt on the intake tube bracket (it bolts on to the plenum) add 1/2 to 3/4 inch spacer (iused some old nuts) this will raise the intake tube enough to clear the a/c line. I didn't modify the air cleaner bracket, but I did put a spacer in the same place that you did. You will need to put a longer bolt on the intake bracket. and remember to retighten the the intake tube at the throttle plate. I'll be keeping an eye on this modification through tomorrow, if it works out, I'll make spacers out of aluminum or palstic (depends on what I find at Home Depot. If anyone is interested, I'll post the sizes tomorrow. Again, great catch Dabomb!

is dat wit injen intakes too?

ITS DEFINATLY WITH BOTH INJEN AND JWT...id be willing to guess all other CAIs have similar problem just because of where the A/C line is.
Im gonna work on it tomorrow to try and improve it even more. Add the spacer for the Ztube bracket and tape the tubing down more. Id assume if u dont tape the tubing down that this can also cause a rub...better safe than sorry
As for fixing leaks that have already been created...Infiniti quotes as much as $800...

Re: AFTERMARKET INTAKE OWNERS---READ ASAP
After checking mine again, after 3 days with the bracket bent and the spacer, the A/C line crept back. I used a zip tie to hold the A/C line back further, and time will tell if it can withstand the heat. The A/C line gets pretty hot under there.

Re: AFTERMARKET INTAKE OWNERS---READ ASAP
I found this thread...he used a foam piping to keep the A/C line colder but maybe this would be better as It wouldnt cause any rub itself
