Last audio mod I did with my previous car was a nice 12" kicker solo-Baric setup. I been thinking about putting in 15" in my G sedan but don't know if that's going overboard or not. Its is crazy or should I just stay with 12" or dual 10"s. Anyone install 15" sub in their cars? Pics & opinion please?

I have my eye set on a MB Quart 15" subwoofer with MB Quart Amp for now as I think JL is over price but the review are awesome. Just can't justify the price tag, IMO.

 

if u wanna fit it, ur gonna need to face the sub upwards or have it slanted somehow. there's not enough vertical clearance for a side-firing sub and box. u'd also be sacrificing lotsa trunk space. not worth it imo. u could get the same output by using 2 12's

 

JL's 10W7 is well worth the its hefty price...one would be more than enough.

Forget about 15's, it's all about 12's and 10's

15's just sound too deep. Just my opinion

 

i have 2 competition grade jbl 15"s in my sedan trunk. these are gnarly. they are monsters. if i wanted to(i would never want to!) i could break my rear wind sheild! even with 2 big boxes of dynamat,its that strong...but with the rear deck being so close to the windsheild, there is a lot of banging going on. i usually have my subs turned all the way down. im powering both of them in a sealed box, upward facing, with a jl 1000/1 mono amp. my guy couldnt fit them horizontally, that would have been ideal. there is a photo of my box in the stillen day pics...im too busy right now to attach image but its pretty easy to find. let me know what you think. also, you can ask me any questions.

 

Looks like a single 12" or dual 10"s are still the way to go. 15" is over kill from the information I'm getting currently. I never sat in a car with 15" sub, so I have no way of feeling it but I do know from the last 12" I have sounded nice and punchy. I think I'm just trying to do something different. Hate to do what's already been done. Now I got no drive for it. Maybe I'll put the 15" in my SUV but then again that's my wife's school bus for kids. I don't think they'll appreciated after I blow off their ears. I guess I'll save the money and use it to buy me a good Home Theatre sub from HSU or SVS. Everyone enjoys a good explosion.

I love that set up. Wish I was not married with kids. I need the trunk spaces. I guess its time for Infiniti to bring that G35 based Wagon over here for the not so old dad like myself.

 

You've never heard a Digital Design 9515, have you. That is one of the fastest, cleanest and loudest woofers ever made for car audio.

I had a pair of these that I used to compete in DB drag with. Amazing woofers. I ended up switching classes and went wih 4 Inhuman 12s for the rest of the 2002 season. I ended up 6th in the world (DBdrag World Finals)

While I used the DDs, I couldn't believe how good they sounded. Kick drums were lightning fast, no overhang either. These 15s would make an excellent 10 sound sloppy.

Im pushing 600 watts (single channel from a jbl bp1200)to a single Infinty Kappa perfect 12 in a VERY small sealed box (only big enough to fit the magnet and basket). It pounds, no distortion and very clean.
IMHO 12 or 10" and a good amp is all you'll really need.
