i couldn't find the link on Pepboys.com but what you have described sounds exactly right. i'll put up a DIY when i get a chance.

 

1)Im a newb at electric work, wut do u mean by tapping in(splicing wires)? picture?
2) where can i find those ccfl tubes/will they get hot under rear passengers legs?

 

tapping just means touching the wire you want power to, to the +,- wires that has power already. all you have to do is strip the insulation off the wires of the light source and stick it into the +,- and use electric (black) tape to hold it in place (make sure the + and - doesn't accidentally touch).

 

Is the above pic in the cabin or in the engine compartment?

 

that was confusing to me at first too but when i looked around, its a lid to the left of the pedals that comes off. the dead pedal (i think thats what its called) is kind of in the way but no biggie.

 

That came out great. looks good. did you do the trunk too?

 

the above picture, is it like a wire harness that is plugged in there? can i pull it out? or do i have to pull out each (#1, #8) of them individually?

please provide a detailed diy, if possible? would really appreciate it!!

 

it's a plug you can pull out the whole harness at one time. You can't really pull out the individual wires you need a special pin removing tool for that.

 

For those of you who wanted more details:

BCM Harness furthest right (near driver side foot plate. See picures below)
Use these pinouts to connect inverters/leds


Driver side:
Drill a hole a couple inches in front of the ridge in the back of the trim piece.
Now you can run a zip tie around the ccfl, through the hole and attach it.
The inverter you see in this picture was pushed in after install was completed



Passenger side:
Take out the lowerdash piece to allow enough access for installation. Use zip ties to secure.

Rear:
Use an exacto knife or anything sharp to put 4 holes for each tube in the carpet. Thread zip ties through these holes and attach ccfl's.

I put the inverter for these tubes in the first aid compartment. (yes the first aid kit still fits)

yea, i did the trunk too, but i regret doing it in blue, looks to ricey, i'm kinda embarrased when opening my trunk, should have gone with white..

 

how did u change ur door light? it does not pop out as easly as the domelights

 

^ it does pop out, but yea, not as easy as the dome. just ply it.

 

Hey, Deftronix. Could you provide a bit more detailed installation of the rear seat lighting. I've done lights for under my steering wheel and glove box, but which wires did you tap into for the rear seat lighting? Did you tap into the same wires? If so, was it difficult to run the wires discretely from the front to the back?

 

Yes, the same wires were used to hook up the ccfls in the rear. I ran the power under the door molding, it is not visible.
