LED under glove box/steering wheel help

i'm trying to install LED's under the glove box/steering wheel and i want them to light up when the door opens. is there a way to tap into the doors power under the glove box/steering wheel rather than having to tap into the doors power wires? please give me detailed instructions of where those wires would be if you have any idea. thx guys/gals!

tap into the dome light circuit, it's the wires going up the A-pillar on the passenger side. I have a pic on my computer at home showing the colors, I'll dig it up tonight.

You will definitely want to tap into the map light circuit.
This way it will come on when u push unlock, door open, turn your car off, etc.
I actually did something similar with 4 12" white ccfl tubes.
You can get to these wires right at the BCM (in front of driver side door)
Heres a picture with the info u need (this is the connector furthest right):
Pin 1: Red/Black (+12v)
Pin 8: Purple/Red (-)

Its very nice to have them go on/off automatically. Good luck!

Here is the final result of my install:

What LED's did you use for that?

Did you buy a kit or use raw LED's? Looks hot, might be a nice little project for me

is there a diy anywhere? Or does anyone mind writing a quick one up (quick but thorough). I want to do this but I am not very good at electrical. Also do these lights get hot?
