The sunroof is designed in a way that it makes no noise.

I guess you need to pay 10k more for luxury features that actually have a little thought put into them. Opposed to a Nissan with a big badge trying to compete with luxury car companies (Ie. BMW, MBZ, Lexus.)
lol I'm not going to pay 10k just for "a little thought".

If it doesn't endanger me or can be adjusted to have no effect on me, I'm willing to save 10k.

Excellent tip Ian.

We never travel on the highway with it open because of the noise. I will definitely try pushing it down to reduce the noise.

I would love to know what is the secret to having a "noiseless" sunroof, that must require driving the BMW in a vacuum. I guess these "luxury" cars are also built for space travel; I guess we should have all paid the extra money and upgraded!!

^ its air flow, plain & simple.
The windshield & roof profile are what shapes the air over the car.

The cars that have quiet SRs (most BMW) have a profile that lifts the air flow slightly above the SR opening & therefore generates less noise.
They also use a notched deflector instead of the flat bar that we have. This also minimizes the noise.
I might experiment with this myself...

nice DIY, you rock, this was actually pissing me off as I'd constantly open/close the SR depending on how fast I'd go/what roads-highways I'd use.

now i can make the most of that sunroof i paid for.

Thumbs up

Thanks! That was easy to remove the deflector. I had previously also figured out that driving over 110 mph will make the open sunroof noise go away as well!
