vBulletin Upgrade

Well after much discussion and counting of ‘hanging chads’ it has been decided that we upgrade to vBulletin 3.0.1.

I am asking that Everyone update their profile with a valid email address. Just in case we cannot convert the passwords we will have to send you new ones for your first log in on the new software. You will of course be able to change them to more familiar ones once you log in.

Also save any pictures you have in your “Ride” that you want to keep.

We will let you know when we are done with testing the migration and when the site will be down so we can migrate current information and not have the same challenge we had the last time when we lost some posts.

Andrew, We Miss and Love You! Peace!

Re: vBulletin Upgrade

Everyone, please refer to this post in the Announcements forum:

Pending Upgrade to vBulletin

I will try to keep ya'll updated with progress reports posted there. As of right now, the only thing that's happened is that we've make the final decision to move forward with vBulletin. We don't have any time estimates yet. At this point, all we can tell you is that:
1) We most likely won't be able to migrate the Rides section, so make sure you have copies of anything you want to keep. (Grab a copy of any signature banner you may have, while you're at it....)
2) We might not be able to migrate passwords, so you'll need a valid email address to have the new system send you a new password. (Don't panic.. we don't know what your password is, it's encrypted.. which is why we may have trouble migrating them over.)

Re: vBulletin Upgrade

It would be nice if the new system ignores signatures so when you do a search it is more meaning full. That is the only critque of the present system I have.

Re: vBulletin Upgrade

vBulletin does treat signatures separately from the message body. However, the current system does not, so all old imported messages will still have the old signatures in the message body, and pop up in search results.

Re: vBulletin Upgrade

Can we kinda add more spacing between the subject threads? I have to squit and stare before i figure out where I'm clicking...I don't mean to bash the layout of the g35driver.com I know you guys are doing your best...but its soo hard for me to see stuff...and read stuff....Maybe its because your running old versions or what not..I'm not a designer...and I dunno if your vbulletien software is old or new...but all I know its I get a huge headache trying to read and find stuff...but on the plus side...I come here because the community here is great...supportive...informative...quick to respond...and friendly.
