I agree with the anti Premier Membership comments...I contributed a few dollars to this site before it took its current form; when a request was made for assistance. I love the exchange of information and want to support that...but being forced to pay $30 for the benefits of GB just sticks in my throat....but I don't even know what GBs are going. If I did at least I can do the math and figure out the cost/benefit.

Irony there's only been one group buy since the switch. It was for a knockoff of the Top Secret front bumper.

Kyle:

Please consider that many of us donated when there was not premier membership.
Speaking as one who has been on this site a while and wants to see it continue, as well as you succeed, we expected site upgrades and additional enhancements as a result of paying site fees. We did not expect to see the free stuff get locked down.

Alos, I guess folks are a little confused as to why my350z's GBs are not locked down for premier's, but G35d is?

There are still a great many of us that would donate extra $$ if things were in a pinch for you. But you may be losing folks, not many.. but enough where people will look for alternatives.

Cheers, ted

We cant talk about street racing, we have to pay to get on group buys, you guys validate it by saying "It will help the site" Yeah... Im gonna help the site and take my business else where. my350z sounds much more inviting.... and alot less admins screaming give me money or we restrict your access.

Just so you guys know, I run a 100 dollar a month colo. It has a php powered forum on it. Amazingly, we accept donations through paypal and amazingly... the 200 something members we have manage to almost pay for the server every month. Why? Because were nice to them and provide an -UNMODERATED MEDIUM- for them to talk in, unless ofcourse things get racial, insulting, etc.

You people need to learn how to respect those who made you what you are today. Not tell them to bend over so you can put it up their asses.
Doesn't Kyle own both my350z AND G35driver?

Seems like he was only interested in correcting me and not answering the questions. I don't know where this site is going, but I'm not liking it. BTW, this post will probably be deleted.

Concerns

Hey guys, this is a site for the exchange of information about a car that we all feel is worth the trouble.
I joined because I've found out that others have the same questions I did and saved me from the learning curve.
I asked a question about a group buy on a MD Spacer, the reply I received was go to MY350Z and get on their group buy.
The common thread between us all is the fact we care about our car. We enjoy talking about our car, we enjoy working on the Car. This Group buy thing isn't about the car is it?
The amount of time I have saved in finding things out before I got into the fray is well worth the $. Group buys may be a bonus but hey what else are you going to do to your car? Will it make a difference if it is on a group buy or not? You will more than likely fork out the $ for the MOD, but the information someone posted about a gain in power or problem unforseen is worth the price of admission.
The banter is great and I am not knocking it but look at what you are posting.

Not likely, You will have to spend hours coming up with something really whitty before that ever happens.

BTW, I think group buys SHOULD be available to all. This thing where we have to PM people if we are not Premier Members is weak. It doesn't stop people from participating, yet it gives the illusion that people have to "break the rules" in order to do something that is common place on message boards like this.

The more I think about it, the more convinced I become that more people would be Premier Members if the Group Buys were open to all. Either way, I still love this site! YMMV

I agree with your statement and would much rather pay a small fee for the entire site rather than for just for the elusive group buys

I belong to a few other boards than this one, acuramdx.org, and I am not required to be premier member for group buys. By limiting this to premier members, you will, over time, eliminate group buys and eventually lose sponsors and members. I agree with something another member wrote, giving premier members an additional discount on group buys,

Another thing that might be done is that you actively seek sponsors to give discounts to premier members, this may increase the amount of premier members you have. and thus be a win-win for everyone.

I urge you to reconsider your policy on group buys, this will do nothing more than drive people away from this site.

just my $0.02.....

I regularly check out other sites anyways for group buys and usually it's the same vendors (Evo and Subaru forums seem to have the most active group buys).
