Its meant to stay in the cubby open. But, theres no brackets or anything to mount it because its a tight enough fit to not need them. So, if necessary, you can push it into the cubby and close it when you dont want anyone to know its there, and then re-open when needed.

About the mounting the unit will just sit in the cubby snuggly with no movement. And as you say you can push it down or remove it with ease? For the wiring i guess you have to cut into the cubby to run the wires from nav unit to monitor. And for the NAV will the disk be the most up to date or the one that came with the unit 2 yrs ago?

And after doing some research the display allows one external source to be input as well as the NAV cord?
