Full 6MT Pumpkin-VLSD - ready for gear swap!!!
NEW PRICE - DROPPED TO $400!!!
I have a pumpkin from 05 6MT - with VLSD, good bearings and seals, with 3.92 gears...the pinion gear is broken.
This is primed for a ring and pinion swap into any 03-06 (maybe 07?) G35 or 350Z.
Buying the new VLSD costs $700 and up just for a new unit, and to put in gears, you must have a 6MT differential.
This is a full housing - still assembled, with the Nismo finned diff cover. This will allow you to have the gears setup while still driving your car minimizing downtime, and give you a spare unit (your original) if you ever want to go back or brake, or experiment with other gear ratios - or just to sell.
Looking for $400 - for the whole setup - offers are welcome! The installed 3.92 gears where from 350Evo. You will be able to visually inspect the insides prior to purchase.
Looking for a local pickup - SoCal - San Fernando Valley/Northridge area.

It really isn't at all. Daily driving isn't affected. Freeway driving, sure, your RPM's at 80MPH are about 3600, but that only affects mileage by 1-2MPG at cruising like that.
The gears in the diff now, have to be replaced anyway - so get 3.7 or 3.55's instead of the 3.92's, if you think it will be too aggressive. The 3.7 and 3.55's are much less money than 3.9's as well...check out the MYNISMO.COM site for that -Performance Nissan has the deals on this stuff.
The gear change makes a 5AT really come alive in the bottom end...

Hi Rick,
Not to threadkrapp--because I am very interested in getting a full 6MT pumpkin with VLSD--but isn't this pretty steep for a non-functioning unit? For example, this one went for $540.
In addition to the ring and pinion, wouldn't you also need diff shims and a crush sleeve? Also, shouldn't the bearings be replaced?
Thanks,
Clint

How anyone who buys it decides to build it, is really their choice. There are things I know I would do, whether it was this pumpkin or any other. Not everyone will do the same things, or have the money to do it, etc etc.
Of course you would need shims etc...that's why I said, it's ready for a new ring and pinion...along with that install should be several things, but not mandatory.
I believe I also said to make an offer....

Also - I just read my post - sorry if it seemed agressive - wasn't meant to be ;-)
MANY need a new carrier and want to install 3.7 or 3.92 gears. This setup is all ready to go. Sure - others may sell things cheaper, some more expensive...
Again..make an offer ;-)

Hey Rick,
No worries.
I will get with my mechanic tomorrow and see how many aluminum cans a project like this is going to cost me.
I'll then PM you an offer.
Best regards,
Clint

BUMP AND NEWS ALL!!!
Check this thread over at MY350Z : http://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=293371
There is a set of 3.92 Evo for sale - the same gears as those that need to be replaced in this pumpkin...VERY likely no shims needed, so a very easy and less expensive install.
BTW - shipping this thing will cost about $125 - the slow way.
