For Sale: 3dr Brake Light from rear shelf

Does anyone want this light I removed from my Sedan. The spoiler was installed from new and this light was disconnected so it's really never been used. It is the factory light with 6 LED's inside, not the cheap replacement one that has regular bulbs.

I took the light out and filled the hole because even tho it was disconnected, I hated the look of it in the back window when it served no purpose. I know others have had issues with these lights not working so I figure someone would want it and not have to pay the dealer $200 for the bogus one.

I just tested it and all LED's are working.

$60 shipped.

Here are pics:

And this is what I did to fill the hole, as close to stock as I could get it I think.

Unfortunately, I had to make it all by hand. I asked the dealer if there was blank piece to fill (like they made for the I35's) and they said no, I would have to order a whole new rear parcel shelf for a sedan that came with spoiler from factory and didn't include the light. $250. Yeah right.

So I took it all apart. Went to the local crafts store, bought a SF of black felt material, and went to town. The end result was the picture above which to me looks just like the stock shelf that came without the light, and all it cost me was $3 for the material and a little bit of my time.

It looks really clean. I went to a craft store before looking for fabric that would match my interior... no cheddar.

Sent you PM about the light. I have the bogus one that the dealer used for a warranty replacement. Even though I can't see it, it still bugs me.

3rd Brake Light from rear shelf

How did you get the light out? I went underneath the trunk and was able to unscrew one of the screws, but I could not get to the other screw that holds LED housing. Any pointers?

How do you get the light out?

I tried and couldn't get to that other screw through the trunk. Some other people posted that they used a small, flat blade screwdriver through a threaded hole in the sheet metal somewhere underneath that second screw, but my car doesn't have a hole anywhere near where it would need to be to reach that screw.

I wound up removing the rear seat and rear parcel shelf to get to the light. Crappy design, in my opinion. Probably because Nissan modifed a JDM Skyline sedan for the US market and had to put in this light and they cut corners to save cost. Owners like us pay for stuff like that in later years.
