He is correct to an extent, they are cheaper in Canada but still do not meet US emissions or FMVSS laws.

I'm not trying to thread crap...sorry if it seemed that way. I just didn't know they were so much more in the USA.

Also wondering...what are the importation rules in the states for these cars? Its 15 years+ in Canada.

Importation rules are totally different from Canada, in the US you need to petition the NHTSA for entry, make several modifications to have the vehicle US compliant, obtain a 17 digit VIN, have several federal and state agencies inspect it, etc. All of this is time consuming and expensive hence the higher price in the US.
