VB upgrade, is not needed but highly recommended. This kit is probably too much for an unbuilt motor. You will also need gauges, a tune, install, EMS, etc.

Thanks for the advice and insight. I definitely wouldn't want my stock motor to detonate. I'm just looking to bolt something on to an unbuilt motor.
