Anything can be done but it will be a pain. Why not just a good aftermarket one for less $$?

I agree that it is very clean but so are the OEM DD kits.

Do a search, I am sure there are people that have looked into this before. I would think you can but it will take a lot of work.

From what I have heard is you have to buy it with it or you wont be able to get it they say would have to replace the whole center console and maybe the dash cause the screen goes up and down inside of it.

This is what my dealer told me and I asked a few others and they said all the same. If there is something you can do I will be pissed cause I ordered my G and paid the price for the stock one since they told me I couldn't just add it at any time since you would have to replace the center and the dash.

The screen will fit behind the non-navi radio. You will have to get the other iso-mount from grubbs. But you should be able to keep the parts you have.

To add the OEM nav would cost you a lot of money. I have heard the parts and labor would amount to near 4K. Just go aftermarket like people have said here. The Eclipse and Pioneer units are a lot better than the OEM anyways. They play DVDs, MP3s, touch screen, and you can attach a rear view camera and much more.

+1

local dealers told me the same thing. they said that there are so many wires and things to run through the whole car (i.e. for tire pressure sensors, etc..) that it would be way too hard to do and all of them said they wouldnt do it. they said that if i wanted it done id have to go to an aftermarket place and take my chances (and pay out the rear end)

I am in the same boat but I'm getting by with a Garmin GPS for the time being. While the DD conversions look sweet, I've had enough aftermarket GPS systems in my car that I tend to like it as close to eye level as possible. I am planning on going with an incar computer set up, most likely with the screen housing from mp3car.com. They have a housing that looks very similar to stock and pulls up from the center console. I think its manual operation, but perhaps there is a way to make it pop up with some springs, like the stock nav unit does. There may be a way to bypass the car computer thing by finding a gps system that has a video output, but I haven't looked for one like that.

Two people have done it in the forum. They buy the parts off ebay and from junk yards (~$2g) . Anything else you need you have to order from a dealer. Most dealers refuse to even try to install it; its doable yourself, but there's no instruction, so expect it to take several days with lots of head scratching and swearing.
