< Kenwood DDX-6019 / PAC SWI-ALP(wired remote) ISSUE >

Has anyone successfully used the PAC SWI-ALP with a Kenwood DDX-6019? I hate to admit this but instead of doing the install myself I had it done due to time constraints. Well to make a long story short he could not get the PAC SWI-ALP steering wheel remote to work. He tried two PAC units and even tried a different 6019 HU. I really don't want to go with the IR unit due to lag. Any help here would be much appreciated. I'll get pics up later today or tomorrow of the install - so far I love the Kenwood, I've been an Alpine man for some time now so switching was difficult decision.

Thanks,

Pirate

I have this working (probably the first one with the 6019 and the PAC, about a month ago). I can confirm that there is lag, but it's acceptable. Just not as quick as OEM. I love the 6019 too, I have the KNA-G510 navi and it's great (also a long-time Kenwood fan, since the early MASK days!)

I can try to help you, what's the exact problem your installer is having, can you be more specific?

I called them(AVE in Clearwater) yesterday and spoke to the owner, Dean the installer was off. He couldn't give me much detail but asked me to ask you if you installed the system yourself or had a stereo shop install it for you? If you had a shop install it would you please PM me with the shop name and phone number? AVE would like to contact them and compare notes.

Thanks,

Jeff

I installed it myself.

It's fairly straightforward, combine the multicolor wires with the resistors using the spec sheet (long list with the list of resistor values) and then hook it up and program it using the install/programming sheet (the booklet-style sheets).

Have they tested it or do they know exactly which step they're stuck on?

He said he tried two different PAC units and two different Head Units. I'll call and talk to Dean the installer today for clarification. I appreciate your help.

Thanks,

Jeff

Where is he stuck at exactly? Is he having trouble getting it turned on and programmed? Or is he stuck on programming the buttons for the HU?

He has no idea why but he hooked it up to a Kenwood HU on the bench configured it, got it working then hooked it up to mine and viola it works. Who really knows what the deal was but it's working and like everyone says it's slow but tolerable to keep your steering wheel remote. Thanks for the help!
