Why not spend the money on mods instead of a radar detector?

Gosh, what is everybodys deal with these "do a search" comments?

This guy needs our help and perhaps he did try a search and didnt find the answer to what he was looking for.

Regardless, it wont kill anybody to give their opinions to try to help him out. Its not like this site gets soooo many new threads a day that we cant have a repost every once in a while.

Lighten up everybody.

Because when you got caught speeding, you wish you spent it on a radar detector instead of a new carbon hood. the money you saved in tickets will far exceed the amount it cost to get the radar. With an average ticket being more than 250 dollars in NY + 300 a year in insurance, you would think a 500 dollar radar detector doesnt sound so bad then.

I never leave my driveway without my Valentine1. I've been using it for six years and I haven't gotten one ticket since. In fact, it saves my a$$ everytime I drive up to Orlando.

after getting my first speeding ticket i bought the v1 and its a damn life saver.. works like a charm.. the only annoying thing i dont like is that on regular streets it keeps going off cause of automatic door sensors.. i know i know turn it off or change the mode.. but it does work great..

V1 all the way. I would not have a license right if it were not for my V1.

True.

It seems like a well worth accessory for G Coupe owners. But its a little expensive.

Im not sure if this is true, but I have heard from multiple sources that these things are illegal. Well atleast here in L.A. Can anyone confirm this?

V1's, as well as all radar detectors, aren't full-proof. I got gunned with a laser coming over a hill and I was dead. All the V1 did was confirm it was a laser.

The "I was late for my tee time" excuse didn't fly.

LOL True that.

I have a Passport 8500 that works like a sunovabitch. My gosh, I can't even count how many times that has saved me in so many situations. I am in Cali and for the most part, the cops around here use the KA band. I recently drove across country and as I went, I got different bands all the way across. But, as proof, I drove 3058 miles from Fremont CA to Delaware, and didn't get one ticket. Everytime there was a cop, my good ole buddy Passport was there telling me "Watch Out!!!" I drove above the limit, for the most part, the entire way there, but I always had the 2-15 second buffer to hit the brake and keep my a$$ out of harms way. Do not hesitate another second to buy either a V1 or 8500.

I'm not saying the V1 sucks or anything but, I am saying that based on my real life experiences, for the $320 I spent, I have never owned anything that has saved me from so many "situations". It gives you confidence to drive how you want. It is not an excuse to disobey the law and endanger others, but it does let you flow a bit faster than the flow of traffic, and feel safe doing it.

It really makes driving that much more fun.
