Where's the bass?
I have a 2005 G35 Coupe. I've always been dissapointed with the Bose stereo for it's numerous shortcomings, the biggest being it's lack of bass. I mean almost NONE! And just to clarify I'm not one to drive around trying to rattle windows, I just want to hear/feel something when I'm supposed to be hearing a bass drum, bass guitar, or any other instrument producing a low frequency.
I had my car in for service to take care of the clicky rear-end issue and I noticed that the bass response of the 2004 G35x with the B(l)ose stereo was MUCH MUCH more than on my car. So much so that I started to wonder if all my speakers were connected. So I played around with the fade and balance and verified that I'm getting sound from all four corners. Hmmm. Is the sound system on the Coupes that much worse or is it that the 2005 stereo sucks?
Someone mentioned that there is supposed to be a PDF on Bose's website describing wiring of the audio system but although I found the G35 Coupe on there, I didn't see any PDFs or relavent descriptions. Does anyone have a good link to this or an similar file?
If I JUST want to improve the bass what are the recommended options? Yes, I've tried turning up the bass to +5.... not much help. I do not want to install any additional subwoofer boxes or replace the head-unit.
Thanks,
Wayno-san

Yeah. It's not that good. The last generation Honda Accord had better low end bass response.
You can get something like the Infinity Basslink. It's a sub and amp built into one and doesn't take up much room. Or you can get the 4080 box for 1 10" or a Zenclosure box for 2 10". Since you have the bose system, it's easy to tap in for signals. You'll just have to run the power wire from the battery.

Texasscout,
Does that mean I have to listen to my music at 20+ volume???? Or is it a one shot deal? Is this related to the +5 bass bug?
I tried to play with the radio to see if I have the +5 bass bug but I didn't notice a difference before/after cycling the ignition. I need to get a CD of tones to make sure though...
I'll research the Basslink. I'm assuming that this would replace one of the speakers?
Thanks for the suggestions guys.... I read through another thread about replacing all the speakers with Infinity Kappas but that seems kind of extreme if all I want to do is boost the bass.

Each time I get in my car I have to turn the volume up past 20 to restore the bass AND treble settings that I had before. I can't even do it with the tone controls! I must push the volume past 20 for just a second to get it back.
Wow,
Maybe I have that issue... the controls seem to have very little effect right now. Have you tried contacting Bose directly (instead of going through Infiniti) about the problem? I wonder if they'd be any more helpful.
I looked into the Basslink... where the heck to you guys put this thing? If I stick it in the trunk, won't I muddy and attenuate the bass? Only reviews I've seen is from people who are using it in an SUV or hatchback where there's no seats to get in the way of the sound.... I'm definitely willing to spend the $200 if it fixes my music.

Texasscout,
I confirmed that I have the same problem. What did your dealer/Infiniti say about this? Do you know if others have it? Perhaps we can get a list of people with the problem together and send it into Infiniti to see if we can get their attention.
