install LOC before amp or tap into rear speakers
I did a search on the above but didn't come to a clear cut answer.
I am wanting to still have the rear speakers powered along with a 10" sub/amp. What would yield the best sound with little muffle?
I read the recent install with tapping into the amp, but the rear speakers need to be disconnected.
Thanks in advanced

Don't use a LOC. Tap a set of RCA's right into the BOSE amp input leads. You can run this into an amp and do whatever you'd like.

So I can just strip the Bose amp RCA with the aftermarket RCA to power my sub? I have never heard of that before I always thought you had to cut the old wires and use the LOC.
Which way would produce better sound quality, LOC or RCA tap?

Adding components rarely improves sound quality. LOC's should only be used as a last resort. Comming into the BOSE amp there are 4 pairs of twisted wire in a grey shielding. You can cut a set of RCA's in half, the outter RCA shielding is the ground and the thin center wire is the positive. Then you can just strip back the plastic on the amp input wire and 'tap' into the signal to feed an amp with the RCA's. The wireing diagram for the BOSE system is avaliable here on the forum in pdf format. I'm not sure where, a search should find it.

LOCs are designed to take speaker-level (amplified) output and convert it to line-level (non-amplified). Since you're tapping in to the wires ahead of (or instead of) the Bose amp, the signal is already at line-level, so the LOC is unnecessary.
I just did this in my G a few weeks ago. After I put it all back together, I noticed a ground-loop problem so I'm going to install a GLI. If you find that you also need a GLI, make sure you spend the money to get a decent one. El_duderino had a page that showed the post-GLI signals using several different GLIs, and the results for the cheapo Radio Shack unit proved you get what you pay for.
Good luck.
