Need configuration advice
I have a coupe with the Bose and I'm looking to replace all the speakers and the amp. I could use some input. I'm not well versed in doing this sort of thing, so will probably end up with a professional installer doing it. I plan to keep the head unit, as I have SAT and NAV and don't want to mess with it.
From what I understand, my car currently has 8 speakers in it. Two 6.5" and two 1" tweeters in the door. Two 6.5" in the rear, and two 6x9" in the rear deck... plus the amp in the trunk..
I want to replace all 8 of those speakers and add a 10" sub in a custom box in the trunk. My primary question is the amp. A car audio place I visited suggested the Alpine MRV-F450 4.1 channel amp. The front door speakers I was thinking of using a component setup, which will load to 4 ohms. I was wondering how a 4 channel amp will work with the rear 6.5's and 6x9's. Would I want to run the rear 6.5's and 6x9's together in parrallel, understanding that would result in a 2 ohm load? Would that cause a big problem with the amp? How else can I configure it?
Obviously a 6.1 channel amp would be the way to go I think. I could go with a 6 channel and seperate amp for the sub, but I'd like to keep to 1 amp and install it in the stock amp location. I just can't find a 6.1 channel amp any place..
Advice would be appreciated, and if anybody knows a good shop in the Dallas/Plano area, I'd really appreciate that also. I'm thinking of spending around $1000 or so..
