Re: aftermarket radio question
yeah what's the URL? is it possible to transfer my old system from my old car into the new g35, everything except the headunit that is... because i dont have the $300-$500 to buy a new dashkit, so im just gonna use the oem factory headunit, not sure if it will work, i hear that i will require an rca convertor, so that i can connect my amps and components, right?
Should sound a lot better if this actually works, can anyone confirm this? Using oem radio with aftermarket amps, subs, and components/speakers? am i able to do this?

Re: aftermarket radio question
Yes you can. You will need an LOC (line out converter) in order to hook up external amps. I am putting together a competition system using the stock HU so it can be done very effectively, but you need to find a good installer and might need to spend some $ if you want it to sound perfect. If its for a daily driver, then its not a hard install since the amp is located in the trunk...enjoy!

Here is a link to the part from PAC you will need to interface with the Steering Wheel Controls.

ryoken,
you say that now, but youve only heard the crappy *** bose in the G, once you hear tru signals, like my alpine 4V preouts, youll laugh at that bose. its like night and day. but goodluck anyway.

Re: aftermarket radio question
Obviously, a system with preouts will provide a cleaner signal. However, a proper line->preamp converter will sound decent.
I had a Kenwood deck (with preamp out) in my last car with a 4 channel Kenwood amp, 16w RMS, 40w peak per channel (so let's call it a 160w amp), and Infinity 6.5 speakers occupying the 4 stock speaker locations, and the Kenwood 10-disc changer that plugged into the head unit. I'd say most premium factory stereo systems would be hard pressed to beat it, even though it wasn't that fancy.
I think the Bose is fine. Better base than my old system due to the sub, but the sound isn't crystal clear across all frequencies. If that's not good enough, then I think an aftermarket amp and speakers are enough to correct the problem, maybe an EQ as well. It can be done with the stock head unit. For one, I don't want to give up the dual a/c controls.
My only real gripe with the system is that I've had the cd player jam 3 times. *grrr*

Re: aftermarket radio question
well anything can happen. Some guy with a VW GTI stock system with a Trutech amp was winning competitions. G35audioman let me know how it turns out. I'm keeping my amps for the time being, but selling the rest of the stuff.
