Hi,

My 2003 G35 Sedan's CD player doesn't work any more.

It is the 200 Watt Bose system that was a $900 option when I got the car.

I can hear the transport spinning but it won't play or eject any of the 6 CDs I have in it.

What are my options?
Can it be fixed, replaced, replaced with another unit (aftermarket)?

I don't even want Infiniti to look at it, I know that costs there would be way beyond what it should cost.

Anyone does this and have any idea what the costs are for any of my options?

Try and get another stock unit from ebay or a forum member that did a double din conversion. I don't know the going rate for this.

Or do the double din conversion. You're looking at $320 for the double din parts, $60 for an appropriate steering wheel control adapter, $10 for an antenna adapter, $35ish for a scoche adapter which would let you use your stock amp and speakers with the aftermarket HU. + cost of the aftermarket deck.

 

If your warranty is up on your car, then it's up to you to get the head unit replaced or repaired.

Like amthar suggests, go aftermarket or pick up another members used head unit.

however, replacing the unit with another factory unit may very well yield the same error sometime in the future. this problem was never fixed... they just keep replacing the unit until you luck out with one that survives longer than you keep the car or you go out of warranty.

 

Does anybody else feel like a new CD ERR FO thread gets started everyday?

 

Either that or:

"Hey, how do I install an AVIC Z-1?"

OR

"Hey, can I use my stock NAV screen to watch DVDs YO?!?"

Thanks for the advice. I think I will first go talk to a car stereo shop and see what they say. Buying a used unit just means to me that it has a shorter life span than this unit already had. And if the F0 error is common, I certainly don't need another one of those.

Make sure you inform the car audio shop that there is a conversion kit to change your console from being a proprietary integrated piece of shi*t to a standard double din configuration. Otherwise they are going to lead you down a whole host of routes that are unnecessary and pointless.
