Re: Cellular Handsfree

Thats a cool feature.. about being able to use it with ANY bluetooth phone... As bluetooth gets more and more popular this kit will grow.. I hate getting installations for hands free kits when you might change phones etc...

Re: Cellular Handsfree

Pretty soon you won't need a palm/phone combo device, because they'll both have bluetooth, and your phone can dial anyone in your pda. And when they eventually put bluetooth directly into the cars, then we'll be able to call up the in-car nav to find a route to an address in the pda. It's pretty cool stuff. Unfortunately, I own none of it right now.

Yeah, except it's a freakin' minivan. I don't care if their marketing dept. claims it's "unable to be classified." It's a minivan. Blah. Ptooey. Blech.

Re: Cellular Handsfree

I saw on Tech TV that the new BMW's are going to have a wireless bluetooth car kit. I need to take some pics for everyone, you really can't even tell that I have a handsfree kit at all. The speaker is mounted behind the dash, and the answer/hang up button is on the drive side of the console on the side.

Re: Cellular Handsfree

Scott,
Here's what I have in my G now. It works through the radio speakers or the speaker on the back of the holder. It also has a mic I can plug in and clip to my collar.

Re: Cellular Handsfree

That is what I had before I got my bluetooth kit, and trust me that is no where in the same vacinity of a handsfree kit then and actual installed handsfree. When I had that kit people could hardly ever hear me, and if I had the call over the car speakers there was so much feedback it was awful. On my new kit, people on the other end have no idea that I am not actually talking on the phone, and all the while my phone is still sitting in my pants pocket with no conection to the car itself.

Re: Cellular Handsfree

Actually no, a lot of the cell phone companies are now selling bluetooth adapters for phones. You simply plug in the adapter to the phone, and you now have a bluetooth phone.

Re: Cellular Handsfree

Actually what you want is a NFMW set up. Huh? NFMW? It stands for Near Field Magnetic Wireless. It costs a hell of a lot less than Bluetooth and works up to a 3 meter range, so no one is going to be intercepting your signals.

Reason Products makes a headset called UNLEASH that uses this technology. It sounds every bit as good or perhaps better than a Bluetooth headset and costs 1/2 as much. Your phone simply needs a headphone jack which most have.

Check it out!

Re: Cellular Handsfree

ACTUALLY.... everyone should go to WWW.CELLPORT.COM and have that installed... it's AWESOME.

Hard wired into the car and upgrade just the pockets to the new phones...
