Headunit Noob

Hey guys, I was in the market to upgrade my stock head unit. I have the navi option in my car, but it seems that many ppl like the Avic's and the Eclipse AVN 5495/5435's. Are there any other options out there? What are the advantages of the avic's and the eclipse AVN's. I wanted a headunit that could play mp3's/dvd's/cd's as well as have an interface with my ipod. Also, if I am going to upgrade my head unit, is it a MUST to get the DD conversion kit? Thanks for the help!

DD conversion yes, unless u dont want to use your AC anymore. If you already have navi, I would look into something that doesnt have a navi like the kenwoods, or alpines. Of course, you can get one with navi too but kinda pointless to have 2 navis.
