I am looking to put a small box in my trunk just to have some decent bass. I was wondering which speaker I should use and what type of box. I want one speaker, but something that will pump pretty good. I live in NYC. Can anyone reccommend a good place to do the work and which speaker I should use. Also, how should the box be positioned in order to still have enough trunk space? TIA.

 

4080 box...Simple, clean and painless. As far for which sub? you will get various opinions, I do perferr JL's 10W6 or Image Dynamics IDMAX10.

 

+1 on 4080 box.

 

IDMAX10 will not fit in 4080 enclosure without modifications. It's much too deep.

Im pretty sure he does for the sedan, but no 12" for the coupe

 

Sorry, did not know that, whats the mounting depth on IDMAX? is it as deep as W7's?

 

7.625" Due to the size of the magnet structure and the angles of the 4080 enclosure, I needed to add two 0.75" spacer rings to accommodate the IDMAX. After spacing the driver out the additional 1.5", I was unable to utilize the nice flush grille that is supplied with the 4080. I had to modify a Polk Audio Momo grille. It doesn't look nearly as clean as a JL 10W6v2 application but I really wanted to run the IDMAX.
