GPS - Suggestions

Hey Guys -

I did a search on this and NOT ONE HIT!

Anyone using any portable GPS units in their cars today? Interested in getting recommendations. Currently looking for a unit that has bluetooth so it can integrate into my Parrot handsfree kit (mute music to announce dirs). Also looking to something I can use world-wide, so international maps is a plus.

Thanks!

I have the Garmin Nuvi 350. The new model is the 360 and it has bluetooth. The size is the same I believe.

Here's a thread with pix of where I put it.

FYI, I think there is an even newer version of the Nuvi called the 660? It's widescreen, although not much wider. I think it's still thin enough to mount in the same way I did it.

Wow..you're right...there is! It has a 4.3" widescreen display in lieu of the 3.5" display on the 350/360. Suggested Retail Price: $1076.91 U.S.D. (for domestic US market only).

Retail on the 350 is: Suggested Retail Price:
$857.13 U.S.D. (for domestic US market only)

These #'s are from the Garmin website. The best prices I've seen for the 350 is at or just below $600 (online)...Costco's sells them too. I just checked and the 660 can be purchased for $750. Hmmm.....is the bigger screen worth the extra $150?

Cavu - do you use the screen much when it comes to driving to a location, or do you mostly listen to the voice prompts?

I use the screen on the Nuvi 350 quite a bit. It sits close enough to me that I don't think the screen is too small, but in spite of what your girlfriend says we all know that "size does matter".

Here is a thread with some great comparison pix of the new 660 to the 350.

Cavu - that's a sweet comparison!! Thanks! How the hell did you come across that!?

Lawrence - I don't get it..is that a display that you install and hook up to an aftermarket NAV (for a bigger display)? I also notice that it says touchscreen will only work with computers.

just a teaser , use a laptop and get more then just a gps.

put the laptop ( or a PC ) in the trunk, conect screen to PC with vga and usb for touch screen.

you can use this for gps, obd II, mp3, or any thing a pc can do !

check out mp3car.com search for g35 ...........
