Rear Door Speakers

Am I correct in assuming the rear door speakers are 6.5 in. drivers with no tweeters?

Re: Rear Door Speakers

They are 5.25 inch, but you may get some 6.5" to fit.

6.5" in the sedan. I know with the base stereo all the door speakers are the exact same and the front doors get the tweeters on the cheap capcitor based crossover. The speakers say they are made by panasonic but look kinda cheap.

Re: Rear Door Speakers

Would a crossover be neccessary for the rear door speakers like the front doors? Or can I assume that its only neccessary for the fronts because of the tweeters?

Re: Rear Door Speakers

only used on the fronts in stock configuration. most common thing to put in the rear doors is going to be a coaxial speaker which has the tweeter and mid in one unit.

Re: Rear Door Speakers

any examples? I was going to use Polk db6500 for the front doors and was thinking of the same for the rears, but I'm not certain those fall in what you mentioned.

I am running the CDT audio CL-6X
[url=http://thezeb.com/caraudio/CDT_Audio_FullRange.html]The Zeb[/url. I have had mine for about a year and they sound great plus they are really skinny. There are plenty of other speaker brands out there that offer the same type of speaker.

OK, NOW I'm confused. I have a sedan with premium package. Can I mount 6.5 MB Quart PCE 216's there without cutting the doors? Or shoud I get 5.25" speakers instead (PCE 213)?

FYI, I am using an MB Quart Q series 6.5 component set for the front, but figured I needed a driver that could build in the tweeter ror the rear.

Re: Rear Door Speakers

The 5.25" will fit in the "stock riser" where the Bose speaker was mounted. If you remove the risers, a 6.5" should fit in the mounting hole.
