To me the best are the Valentine One and Passport 8500. I've owned both, and currently have a V1 because:

8500 is a tiny bit more sensitive
Also, it's a bit better at filtering out false signals in town, although the V1 is now better after I reprogrammed it (factory feature)
And finally, the auto mute is nice

But, the V1 is more than sensitive enough
It filters out junk radar detectors well
AND it has the arrows showing whether the radar is ahead or behind you. And once you try that, it's hard to go back to just a warning

Good luck!

Well, I run a V1, but regardless of mine or other opinions, I suggest you check out www.guysoflidar.com They have a number of objective, real world tests that should help you form your own opinion.

well my solo s2 is basically a cordless 8500. i was just seeing if there was anything better. i do like the arrows however but i like it being cordless. i could hardwire it though. anybody have one that always goes off by cops that are running radar for some reason mine does not always do that...

True, true indeed. He lurks most car forums and finds radar detector threads and spams them.

Regardless, I do recommend checking out the guysoflidar site for unbiased test results, rather than relying on someone saying "My detector is better" without any facts to back it up.
