two 10" subs ran off a single 500/1 amp

Anyone running 2 JL 10W6V2's off of a single JL 500/1 amp? or a simular 2 sub system off a single 500watt amp? If so how does it sound? I know the amp will run both W6's, but I'm wondering how much louder it is than a single sub..

I guess my question is what hits harder..one sub getting 500watts or two subs getting 250watts each?

Its better to drive the speakers properly then underpower them. If you are dead set on running two subs, I would recommend 2 - 10w3v3 instead of the 2 - 10w6v2. They would sound great.

The JL500/1 will under power 2 W6's. With that amp I would run 1 W6 or if you want 2 then get a stronger amp.

Can you bridge the JL to run at 2 ohm?

Max for each 10w6v2's is 400 watts rms, IIRC. You'll be fine with the 500/1, which is underrated anyway.

All you have to do is make sure that the input sensitivity/gain is set up correctly so the subs don't clip when you're really pushing them. Remember, doubling the power of the amp in general only yields a 3db increase in spl. That's probably 1 click up in volume. Not worth the extra money or the strain it's going to put on your electrical system.

I might also suggest the 10w7 instead of the v2's. It'll take up less space, and won't add so much weight with the huge enclosure you'll need for the 2 v2's. 1 sub (either the w7 or the w6v2) will be enough to create a bunch of buzzing/rattling. You'll probably want to dynamat regardless.

250watts is low for the 10w6v2, while 250watts is perfect for the 10w3v3

I always figured the 500/1 was too much for a single 10W6V2 so I couldn't see running a 1000/1 for 2 of them...

I bench tested my 500/1 a few years back. It was well over 700 watts rms. Some site or magazine test one a while back and they got over 700 watts also. It'll be fine for 2 w6v2's.

FWIW, I was powering a 12w7 with that 500/1. Got it straight from JL's national sales manager that I didn't need the 1000/1 and I that I wouldn't be able to tell much of a difference if I did.
