Any pics??

I just got a IPOD 30g 5g for xmas and a DLO FM transmitter. The transmitter sucks so it is going back to Best Buy, but I am still wieghing solutions. It seems as though the USA setup is the most popular.

I also made a newer version that has a vinyl cover to cover up the ashtray. Don't have any pics of that though.

 

Made this one myself like almost a year ago in about half a day with a dremel and less than $10(the cost of the vinyl)

 

If you have a ipod adapter cable already, 2point5.com will install it in the spec.dock for you for $109 including shipping. I'm going to send them my USA Spec cable. It will save you about 40 bucks off the price listed on the website.

 

So, did you get the Spec.dock with the USA cable back? How did it look? I was going to drop the $300 just because it looks very clean and I don't want to make my own ashtray insert.

 

Anyone around here own the spec.dock? I'd like to build an iPhone dock in the ashtray to interface to a PA11-NIS, this looks like a nice solution though pricey. I was wondering if it used the standard apple universal dock plates, so in the future it would be easy to swap plates if needed. Otherwise I may just try to find a way to cram an apple iPhone dock in there... It will be nice to get the iPhone docked in the ashtray to be able to see/use the screen for music, see who's calling before answering the phone via integrated bluetooth, etc.

 

That ashtray opening is the perfect size for an iphone or touch mounted horizontally. somebody really needs to come up with a solution to mount it that way flush, especially if is could be done to have the door still come up to cover it. That would be the perfect integration.
