Ok, so i have thw nav system with the bose in my coupe, but i would like to change out the HU and still keep the voice prompts on the nav. Here is what i was thinking:

Couldnt i just buy an external speaker and small amp and connect that directly to the audio outputs on the back of the dvd-rom gps unit? Alpine makes a model, the sbs-0715, that is a small 2" speaker that comes with its own amp. I figured if i hook this amp up to the nav directly, it would no longer depend on the bose hu/amp for the voice prompts....am i right to assume this?

Im pretty sure the audio signal is coming from the back of the dvd-rom unit so i figured using that signal connected to a seperate amp and speaker should do the trick and allow me to put in a new hu and double-din dash...any opinions? anyone tried something like this?

the only concern i would have is that the audio out of the nav is not a normal signal that can just be tapped into.

idea is ok, but you'll have to get in there with some wires find out.
