Audiobahn Questions
Audiobahn Questions
I've decided to go with Audiobahn components, and that's going to be what I go with, but I don't really know everything that I should about putting a show-quality system together...Engines I can do, audio/video not so much...I plan on using their Immortal Series subs and I'm replacing the 6.5 speakers and 6x9s as well...With the Immortals I'll need to use the High Current amplifiers...That's the info I can list here, and I figured it would be necessary in order to get better answers here...So if anyone can answer some questions for me it would be greatly appreciated...
1. In-Dash EQ/Pre-Amp/Xover, 3-Way Crossover, 30 Band EQ/Crossover/Line Driver- which of these do I use, or is there a combination I should use? And what is a line driver exactly?
2. They offer a stand-alone Line Driver- as asked above, what does this do, and should I use it?
3. Digital Capacitor- I don't know what this does either, so I don't know if I need this component...On top of that, if I don't NEED it, is it still a good idea to use it? You don't always NEED a component but it can still serve a purpose

Re: Audiobahn Questions
hello: first of all i am by no means an expert, so what i said here isnt 100 percent true...if i am wrong? anyone please feel free to correct me!
1.---the indash EQ/preamp will allow you to adjust your system at your fingertips; 3 way x-over, is to allow you to send different fraqncy and amp channels to different speakers (midbass, midringe and highs); 30 band EQ/x-over/line driver, its usually set it once and forget it type, will allow you to fine tuning your system, take out the peak and dips, so your sound system is as flat as possible( for comptetions). line dirver, i think is an device place in between the radio (source)and amp, to bump up the voltage output to the amp, so you dont have to trun the gains on your amp too high(less chance of noise and lower the amp's temp). its all depends on your system, some radio already has high voltage output (6-8) and already have pretty good EQ adjustment and HPF(high pass filter) and most of audiobahn's amp come with X-over
3.Capacitor is an device to store engery, to give you that quick burst when your sub(s) hit that deep bass note, i think in the long term, second battery would be more useful than cap, but some of them have digital voltage readout, its nice for shows........hope it help a lil...good luck.

Re: Audiobahn Questions
Excellent- thanks for the info...So, I should ditch the in-dash EQ idea and just stick with the 30 Band? And I should just run a second battery? That's what I was thinking, but I like the idea of a capacitor...
Nice looking set-up...

Re: Audiobahn Questions
How much power are you running? I forgot what you told me. The cap will help your system's efficiency and save your battery. So it does do something whether you NEED it or not. If you're not running a lot of power and don't plan on running your system a lot with the car off get the cap instead of the battery. You'll save quite a bit of weight and wiring.

Re: Audiobahn Questions
also, the cap will help for when the engine is running, but running a second battey will mainly only help for when you listen to the radio with the engine off. your alternator will produce most of the juice and a second battery will actually drain your car battery so unless you really listen with the engine off a second battery will hurt more than help. i would go with a cap, or best thing is a batcap by xstatic.

Re: Audiobahn Questions
A Capcitor simply stores a good amount of energy that can be used almost instantly upon demand... ie big bass beats
A battery is not so good at these quick bursts of energy!
.5 farad capacitor for each 500watts
ie.
2000 watts = 2 Farad capacitor
Peace

Re: Audiobahn Questions
So, does that apply to the Audiobahn digital capacitor, or all capacitors in general? I should get a cap for each 500W or how do I set up? And which is considered better, the Audiobahn digi cap or the Xstatic BatCap?

Re: Audiobahn Questions
i didnt know CAP are so popular...now if you can afford both, by all means go for it, if you have to chose just one? personly i would chose battery, cause i can shut my car off and listen to the music at decent vol. or in others case watching a movie without worring about car battery go dead, nothing worse than keep ideling your car for long periods of time just keep you battery charged! besides i dont know how offten or when the CAP came in to play...s.w.
