I've never came across a thread with the involvement of the Acura thread. They've spent quite a bit of time with some really knowledgable people to be able to do what they can do. I've got the newer Navi disks but I have yet to even pop it in my DVD-rom.

this is very interesting, sounds like a fun project. I popped both the navigation DVD and the upgrade CD into my computer. There are many folders and only 2 different file types, one has .dat extention and the other does not have an extention. I tried to expand them using Acura's tool, but it didnt work, nor would it open with winrar. If someone else has any insight on this please let us know.

I took a look. I am about 99% sure what file it is that we need to open but all the files on the disc are encoded via .DAT extension. If someone were to know how to decode these I'd be able to get the rest. So far no luck on getting a correct .DAT decoder.

I don't believe that the logo, or anything else, other than map data, is on the DVD. The rest is hard coded into the nav computer. You would need to be able to hack that.

You don't think that the DVD includes a firmware upgrade?

That's cool. KPierson, sounds like this is a project that's right up your alley.

i was hoping someone would post about this. I've been questioning whether it can be done as well.
