I know a lot of people had the problem with "labeled" cds as stated above. When mine died it had, and still has, real cds in it.

Complete and utter nonsense. Burned CD's are not the reason for the BOSE failures. It actually has to do with a faulty connection with the CD player. That is why it will cut out with CD's but play fine with the radio. I had the exact same problem with my 03 Maxima BOSE. There is a fix, but it involves taking apart the HU and resoldering one connection. Ended up going with an aftermarket HU and will do the same in the G.

Any more info on exactly what would need to be resoldered? I have had the infamous CD Err FO problem before with my burned CD's, and while I use my iPod 99% of the time, Id still like to know just in case, how to go about fixing this without getting an aftermarket HU.

yeah if you play burned CDs in it then the laser gets dull and don't work no more.

So you got to go to dealer to get it sharpened.

yes thats what they told me about my cd player it wasnt how the data is written on the cd its the thickness of the disc, i think its absolute bull ****. Im sure about 99.9% of G's on the streets have had atleast 1 burnt CD in them at one time or another. Someone needs to get a micrometer and measure the a CD-R and a regular CD

And for another poster... read your owner's manual; it actually says not to play cdr/rw in the system. I guess if the dealer really wanted to press the issue, then they could point that little part out. Thing is, I doubt the dumbasses at the dealerships even know that statement is in the manual.
thats kind of weird cause when you look at your radio it has a little sticker that says mp3. So how are you going listen to mp3 songs if you could only use orginal cds? I have 6 burnt cds in my radio with over 40 tracks on each cd and i have no problem with mine

Why would they make it compatible with Mp3/WMA format?
That dealer guy would should be careful. He's liable to lose some customers for his dealer with the misinformation spewing from his yapper.

I have 6 burnt mp3's in my changer at all times pretty much. I haven't had an issue with them in the 4 months I have had the car.

as for the argument about not allowing burnt cd's in a player that reads MP3 discs... im sure nissan used the same logic (or lack thereof) for that as they did here.... http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/20/n...rom-2010-gt-r/

Haha, that's awesome!

Look at his name, do you think he's serious? I want to go to the laser sharpening shop, I will have them change my blinker fluid too! Hmm... now that I think about it, a laser sharpening shop would end up being really pricey... reducing laser spectral half-widths isn't simple...
