Unfortunately, this would not work for me. Because i used the navigation from 350z, it does not have these features. But if i used a navigation from a G35, all these features would work.

The last guy to complete this (with the G35 navi unit) reported that values were displayed but they were way off.

Good job on the install though, patience pays off!

to get it to play dvd's, can't we just rip out the out the old dvd unit and install a different one? or can we add this below our stock navi player?

Personally, I don't think it's worth the trouble. While I don''t see a big advantage of factory nav (other than the other 'car' menus) over after-market I greatly admire the work and dedication of anyone undertaking the task.

I just want to do this to have the stock screen pop up and prob just attach a DVD player to it. The integration of the stock buttons seems a little too much for me to care about. Who knows we'll see how cheap some parts can be obtained for

well, i think the pop up screen that is more near the windshield than near the shifter is worth it. i don't want to keep looking down to find out where i am, even if I am looking at some pioneer or eclipse head unit.

the dealership will require the premium ($2000) package for the navi addon (another $2000 = $4000) total. to go with an aftermarket unit (ex pioneer, eclipse) it'd be around 1500, and you would need the skyline double din conversion which is around 400, so it would cost about $2000. and, the thing about aftermarket nav units is that they don't have the "3d view" (correct me if i'm wrong)

i'm gonna do this... i hope.

Factory navi will add about $1000 to the resale value of the car on KBB. Adding aftermarket navi, in most cases, won't increase the value of the car at all, and in some cases, will actually decrease the value of the car.

So, in the short term, aftermarket navi may be a lower cost, but in the long run, when resale value is factored in, OEM navi is clearly the better method from a financial stand point.
