Did you have to get a new dash to mount the Nav control buttons, or is there a way to put them in the existing dash where the storage cubby is?

BUMP! great mod, hope the DIY thing is soon, hopefully with some pictures too.
Great work!!

Even if there is a DIY for it, how are you going to obtain the parts? There are not a lot of Infiniti's out there wrecked with navi's. CNN just posted a report that G35's (1st gen) are one of the safest cars out on the road with a low fatality rate.

They're safe, but on this board they sure get into a lot of crashes!

not sure if this has already been answered but can the '06 Navigation DVD be plugged straight into the '05 Navigation harness and screen?

What brand is this? Do they specs on their website? It looks pretty thin and might be easy to mount anywhere...I'm guessing you have to use the remote to control all the functions?

I guess alot of us just want the auto up/down OEM look...
As he said, the screen can be worked by itself...
Therefore, for those who want the OEM look and can't get all the parts, they can just order a OEM Navi LCD housing... (if they are nice enough to part that out for u...) or get the whole lcd.
Get a Tomtom / Mio 4' to 7' touch screen controlled Navi stand alone unit (those thin wide screen ones) and put it inside the OEM Navi LCD housing, hook up the OEM LCD housing PCB to the car power (the 5 wires) and the navi unit power to the AccPwr from the car. Therefore, when u fire up yr car, screen pops up and navi turns on.... shut the car down, navi unit goes off, screen goes down and hides away.
Just an idea....

Wow, it's cool that someone else did it too. I think I beat you by about a week though:

https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sedan-v35-2003-06/133311-05-nav-into-06-sedan-running-but-having-problem-need-help-05-navi-people.html

I had to go '06 to '05 because that's all I could find at the time.

civic4982,

The '05 and '06 harness plugs in the back of the DVD drive (the brains of the unit) are very different but they have the same basic functions so you could cross wire it to work fairly easily if you have the harness plug on the '06.

You would just have to pull the wires with an extractor and insert them into the '06 plug. If you don't have at least the pigtail, you're in for a bit of work unfortunately. I may attempt it if I find an '06 out there for cheap.
