Other than avelectronic?

Are there any other ways to hook up the nav to external video feeds without the avelectronic device? I know that there are 4 cables rgb + sync... so are there any other more simple ways to tap into it? I mean I don't need 3 a/v in feeds I just want one for a dvd player.

I also read on the avelectronic page, that they have more simple (cheaper) device that does the same thing, but is harder to use (I assume cutting more than one wire duh? hehe). So? would it be much harder to say, splice 4 wires instead of one and save a hundred or 2? or is it not quite that simple?
