Blitzsafe Micro Antenna for XM

For those of you with XM you can install the Blitzsafe Micro Antenna. It only has a purple lead and out stock XM units require antennas with two leads, green and curry. However there is a one to two splitter made for the Sirius units. I purchased this for $15 and was able to shave a small piece of plastic off the purple lead to make it fit and it works without any problems. This was great for me cause I have metallic tint and couldn't install the antenna inside and this was the smallest antenna (I previously used the Terk).

Where did you purchase it from. I presently have mine inside and have minor reception problems due to metallic tint. Nothing major. How hard is the install?

Re: Blitzsafe Micro Antenna for XM

I bought the antenna from XMFanStore and the splitter from Car Toys. The install was very easy. I removed the lining in the trunk and ran the lead to the antenna along the top of the trunk and throught the rubber gasket comming out of the passenger side near the hinge for the trunk lid. I then ran the lead into the lining on the trunk lid until the center of the trunk and stuck the antenna on the outside of the trunk right there. I will try to post a picture later, not really sure how. The antenna has magnets so it stays in place, it hasn't moved on me at all and I've driven the car pretty hard.

Thanks for the pics. Can't tell. Is it on the roof or trunk, how much and where is this store located? Do they have a website. One more thing, how many inches is the antennae?
thanks.

I have it installed on the trunk because it was easier. You could put it on the roof and it may get even better reception. I bought mine from XMFanStore.com online. I actually have an extra one if you want to buy it. It's brand new in the plastic and I will sell it to you for $30 (includes shipping). The antenna is the size of a matchbook.

Interested and the size and price is good. I'll pull your post up again when I get ready to install. Can it be painted to match car without loss of reception? You can send me via my private post how you want to arrange payment. I guess the easiest way is to send a postal money order. But let me know.

Re: Blitzsafe Micro Antenna for XM

So are you telling me with this Blitzsafe antenna I can simply tap into the existing antenna cable (located in the trunk) and avoid running the Delphi XM antenna through the console, under panels, and into the trunk? If so, that may be worth the extra money.

Re: Blitzsafe Micro Antenna for XM

I'm not sure what you mean about running cable throught console. My coupe came pre-wired for xm. I merely plugged the xm unit in the trunk and added this antenna. If you look at where the antenna connects to the xm unit it requires a green and curry lead (the Terk and stock antenna have two cables that match these inputs). However, this new smaller antenna is made for newer xm units that require only one purple lead. There is not to my knowledge a splitter (taking the purple and converting it to green & curry) available for xm units yet. There is one for the Sirius units but it doesn't fit perfectly some modification is required, a razor blade and 30s. I ran this one wire through the lining of my trunk and attached the antenna to the roof of the trunk using its magnets. I can post more pics later, I think I have one of the splitter and how it attaches.

Re: Blitzsafe Micro Antenna for XM

I see. I'm looking for options for the Delphi Roady...not the factory installed SAT link.

Thanks
