Re: PS2 Install in Coupe (PICS)
Thanks for all of the comments!
The tv tuner on the avelectonic box is sufficient for me. I get about 5 or 6 channels with very little loss of signal and 3 or 4 never fall out. Today I was watching the FSU vs UF game while I dusted a Mustang.
I can't watch a movie up front and play games in the back, yet. The only thing I can do is view the nav while the ps2 is running on the rear monitors. I would need another DVD player for that so I'd have 2 seperate sources. It would be very easy to do but it's not something I need right now.
I'm done with the inside for a while. It's time to concentrate on the exterior and the engine.
Thanks again.

Why the voltmeter? Is that really necessary? What are the chances of something going wrong with the circuit?

I installed the dist block for protection and now I'm set up for any future installs. I went with the voltmeter so I can play with the ignition off and not worry about my car not starting. It has an alarm you can set for low voltage so if I'm playing a game or watching a movie it will let me know I need to charge again.

I used all Stinger products. I checked a couple of others but liked the entire Stinger line. I got all of my wiring from hifisoundconnection.com. They sold the dist block for $30 less than a local shop quoted me.

A modded xbox might make a good car-puter now that I think about it. Having it with wireless controllers (they're USB) would be especially cool with a remote trunk install. And if you keep all your "backups" on an upgraded larger HD, you wouldn't have to worry about a DVD-read error (while you smoke a mustang with the kids in back.) Bonus points for a wireless router in the trunk in a wi-fi area for xbox live Plus, you'd get DVD/MP3/MPG playback ability.
But you gotta love the PS2 for being small for this type of install. The xbox is friggin' huge. Hmm... I'm gonna have to look into this one.
