Re: PS2 Install in Coupe (PICS)

I've had several people ask me to do the same install or similar to their cars. I've thought about it but it's more of a hobby and I don't want my hobby to turn into "work". Ever since I started diving for a living I haven't gone diving for fun.

Thanks for your comments.

Here are some requested pics of the actual hacking of the headrest.

Trace out the template they give you onto your headrest. You definitely want to use pencil because you'll do this more than once. Make sure it's perfect before getting the razor blade out.

Cut the leather about 1/2 inch inside the perimeter of your stencil. You want a tight fit so don't cut it too close.

Re: PS2 Install in Coupe (PICS)

Start pulling the foam out of the accessible area. Once again you want a tight fit so pull a little, then test fit, then pull more, etc.

Re: PS2 Install in Coupe (PICS)

When I had my housing sitting flush all the way around I dug holes with my finger under the support poles. I ran small zip ties around the poles and secured the housing to the poles. Make sure you run all wires up through the headrest before you zip tie the housing to the headrest.

Re: PS2 Install in Coupe (PICS)

I think Ive poped over to this thread about 30 times in the last month just to stare and ooze jealousy all over your G's interior. I gotta say, I had custom work (not video, just audio) done at an ///Alpine Sponsored (not authorized, sponsored....this means theyre "sick"" shop by me. Let me just tell you the quailty of their work is nothing compared to that. I definatly hear where you're coming from that making your play your work ends all enjoyment of it, but man, you got a talent there. Great job man, I hope I can get my car up to the point where it may rival yours some day.

Re: PS2 Install in Coupe (PICS)

Bought a door panel on ebay for $40. Cut it in half, used the long plastic piece to make a new door for the PS2. Took part of the door to Home Depot to color match the paint and painted the PS2 drawer and buttons.

Re: PS2 Install in Coupe (PICS)

Good work Russ... Now looks even CLEANER.

I need to get my xBox in a nice installed location too... I have basically exactly what you have in my Sedan, but with a hacked xBox... No where to hide that beast though... Hmm.

Re: PS2 Install in Coupe (PICS)

Nice job.. when you color matched the paint at Home Depot, what kind did you get? Is it like latex house paint? Brushed on or sprayed on? I've been trying to find a paint match to paint the ends of my double din console.

Thanks,
~John

Re: PS2 Install in Coupe (PICS)

It's latex. I had a little trouble getting it to stick.

Re: PS2 Install in Coupe (PICS)

Wow Russ, that is one amazing setup you have.

I'm in Miami, FL. Any other tips you can give to get a setup like that together? Damn, only if you lived in Miami hehe.

Re: PS2 Install in Coupe (PICS)

Thanks. Just take your time and plan it out. It wasn't that hard to do. It just took a long time to do it.
