How to remove panel for rear side speakers?

Hello everyone. I want to replace my rear stock speakers in my 04 Coupe but failed to find an article on removing the side panels. This is not for the rear deck speakers for bose system! Does anyone have a link they have to a nice DIY article going over this? Thanks!

Remove the side airbag peices, behind that is a bolt. Also, remove the bolt on the seatbelt slider.

That panel should then popoff. Then everything else will be self explanatory on how it removes.

all you need to do is remove the lower rear seat bottom (sit in each seat and pull up the cushion between your legs), remove the upper rear seat (two bolts), remove the front seatbelt bolt and the panel will be free to comeout. it's held on by clips. no need to take off the airbag trim piece and bolt unless you want to remove the window trim (not needed for speaker replacement).

I just pulled my rear side speakers this weekend. Try to get the G35 service manual file ei.pdf

My procedure:
1. fold down rear seatback
2. seperate carpet from velcro and two snaps at the pass through
3. fold back the lower part of the seatback and you will see 2 hex bolts and the latch cable.
4. remove right latch cable (that goes to the trunk pull handle) and the 2 bolts.
5. take out rear seat back.
6. remove lower seat cusion that is held in the front edge by two clips. This can take a lot of force. Make sure the white plastic clips are still attached to the car and not the seat.
7. on each side fold the brackets for the rear seatback so it won't interfere.
8. pull up the thin door jamb plastic piece (not the piece with the infiniti on it)
9. pull out the rubber door jamb strip around the rear side panel.
10. the rear side panel has 8 white clips along the top and front edge. Pull the panel out. Note that the side panel is sort of hooked into the top side panel so you may need to hold the top panel against the body so it does not come out with the side panel.
11. when the panel is out make sure all the white plastic clips are attached to the panel. If not pull them out of the holes in the car body and slide them back onto the side panel.

There is a picture I downloaded that shows all this - I'll try to attach it later...

Good luck. pm if you have questions.

Thanks for all the useful info. I am about to install my speakers and amp after gathering all the equipment.

1. Speakers CDT HD-6.5 components in front. CL 6.5 for rear.
2. Zenclosure spacers for speakers.
3. JL 300/4 AMP.
4. 60 Sq ft of eDead.

I have JL 500/1 amp at home with JL 12W6v2 sitting at home as well but can't use sub because too big. Trying to sell sub and then buy 10W6v2 with 4080 box. Still trying to figure out where to put my 2nd amp though. 300/1 amp is going in stock location where Bose amp would be.

Gonna put in rear speakers and deaden the side by myself since it is the most accessible and easiest to do instead of paying an installer.

Just found out that my rear CL 6.5 speakers will not fit in rear of my car. Does anyone know what the mounting depth is for the rear speakers? I guess I'm going to have to sell my CL 6.5's and find replacements.

Can't you use a spacer for the rear speakers?

Their is limited space to work with for rear side deck. Already have a 3/4 inch spacer that I was trying to use. Even if I use a 1 inch spacer, it still will not fit. If I go larger than an inch, then it will be pushing up against the side deck. The mounting depth for the cdt speakers are 2.63". The stock speaker already has less than an inch in the back to work with. It is really shallow in the rear. I'm just going to have to buy a more shallow speaker.

Zenclosures makes a box for a 12' Why not just go custom? I have two JL 12W6V2's flushed in my spare tire area.

I like the 4080 box and already have it being shipped. The 12 was great when I had a big trunk but now that I have a small trunk, I need to be able to fold down the seat. The 4080 box allows me to maximize space.

Here is a pic of my JLw6v2 that I am selling.
