Hardwiring my radar detector

I plan on hardwiring my radar detector. I don't really care whether it's a low or high mount (though I'm slightly partial to high mounts). I'm wondering if anyone has done anything like this yet and where the 12v sources are relative to the dash and headliner. The stealership quoted me nearly $100 to have the install done and I'm not sure it's worth it. Thanks.

Buy the Invisicord from invisicord.com for $14.25. It's a short RJ-11 cord that plugs right into the power harness for the powered rear view mirror. Make sure you pay the $0.25 upgrade for G35 which makes the ends of the wires thinner to fit into our wire harness. You can buy whatever length you need depending on how far you want to mount it away from the mirror. You can install in about 2 minutes or less. Follow the color sequence for the 07 Maxima in the instructions as the ones listed for G35 are for older models. In case you want to get Mike's mount or the other similar one, the mirror post on the 2007 sedan is 0.9 inches or 23 mm.

great thread about the Invisicord

You can send the $85 I just saved you to my Paypal account.

I think it may also depend on what type of radar detector you have. I just bought the invisicord for my Valentine 1 and it works great and is a snap to install. I think the website listed a few other popular brands that would be compatible with these invisicords.
