Quote: What do you mean "close the GPS into the cubby"? You cannot fit the Navi unit & the mount inside the cubby (actually have never tried), but you can close the cubby (AFTER removing suction cup from the disc). The disc does not interfere with closing the cubby. Make sense?

What you said makes sense. I wasn't sure if the whole unit was able to close into the cubby or not.

This was a poll, and I was educating others that if they want the same effect, but not having to go thru ripping their dash apart, there was an easier way. They then inquired with me on how to do it.....(that's what this forum is about)....sorry for "jacking" your thread.....but this stuff is already in other threads & that's why I directed them to it....instead of reposting everything in here!!!!

I'm not bashing your install...you did a great job, and there's nothing more rewarding than making custom things like that on your own & being the first one to do it. After telling them about an easier way, they inquired, so I replied.....no harm in that "MANG"......

I was just messing with you. I really don't mind at all. The whole point of these boards is to help others. A little humor here and there is always fun

Do you guys have this integrated into your OEm stereo or are you using the sound from the Nuvi unit?

All you do is find a radio frequency that is completely static and set the nuvi to that station. It gives transmits directly to the radio and out through the speakers.

I don't use my FM transmitter for this option at all...sound quality is HORRIBLE...this goes for both MP3's and the directions!!! I only use the Nuvi speaker output....there are times that I don't even have the sound on & just use the screen/next turn info. to get where I need to.

How is the blue tooth sound quality going through the speakers?

The connection is probably a 8.5 out of 10. The MAJOR problem with using it as a bluetooth setup for you phone is the microphone. You have to talk very loud for the person to hear you at a normal level. If you talk in a normal voice they can't hear you. I was EXTREMELY disappointed when I tried it out. I was even more disappointed when I looked for a microphone input, so you can actually run a wire up to your A-pillar or visor. Maybe I'm doing something wrong with volume settings? My father has the same unit and people can hear him just fine.

Like Jimmy said; I only use the Nuvi speaker output as well. It is more than loud enough. I have not tried to play MP3's through it yet.

^+1 I don't even know if I'd go as high as 8.5....... Let's put it this way. I finally got a bluetooth phone so I could use it w/ my NUVI.....1 week later, I went & bought the Aliph Jawbone Bluetooth headset thru Cingular for $99 .

So you guys are saying I should NOT spend the extra money for the Bluetooth feature, and save a few bucks with the older model?

Well it depends. If you are interested in texting with the Nuvi check to see if your phone has that ability. Also, check to see what models, if any, have a remote mic input on the unit.

Texting with the Nuvi!? That just sounds dangerous in itself (while driving).

Steel Blue - I bought my unit for the main purposes of Navigation & the screen size. Did it sound cool that I could pair it with a Bluetooth phone & use that to talk thru?....hellz yeah. Would I buy a different unit if I could do it all over again....probably not. I'm very happy with the 660.
