I am having the XM Sat installed at Infiniti as we speak. I have the HUBER Tint on my windows. Can I put the antenna on the back dash and still have it work? or do i need it on the roof or trunk. If so what looks better? QUICK!

 

yeah it'll work on the back, signal will be a little weaker, but ok... huper optik is a ceramic based tint so your good!

I'm guessing you're getting the OEM XM installed now since you didn't get it from the factory. I didn't either, and was wondering how much the parts/labor were for the install. Any info?

I believe that the parts by themselves were around $450 and to buy them and have them installed is around $530.00 + Tax. It seems high, but where else was I to get it? No where, I think?

 

I've heard about the Huper Optik Windows Film. Where can I get that? I heard that it's really good. It's ceramic based film, right?

If you ask Infiniti for it, they'll charge you an arm and a leg. My 03.5 sedan wasn't prewired, so I had to lay that cable and install the box. Grubbs Infiniti sold me the parts for a little over $300 total, and I had Ovation Audio in Indy install it for about $100. The local Infiniti dealership wanted almost a grand for parts/installation. BAH!

Buy the tuner and cable (if you aren't pre-wired) from Grubbs Infiniti and then install it yourself. It is easy, and even easier if you are already pre-wired.

My antenna is on the roof. It doesn't look too bad. But I do wish I could get the antenna painted silver to match my paint. You will get more dropouts with the antenna inside the car, because at some point, your antenna will be blocked. I occassionally have drop-outs, and like I said, my ant is on the roof. I haven't heard anything negative about the antenna being on the rear deck though (interior of the car)

How can you check if you are prewired?

 

i'm not 100% sure about this, but check your driver side...the inside part of the door or something. It should say pre-wired if it is.

Open your driver's side door-- look on the frame. There will be a sticker that states you are prewired, etc. If there isn't one, you're not. The VIN cutoff isn't correct (several people on both sides of the fence have reported it to be incorrect), but you can always check for the wire in your trunk. As for how to find it-- don't ask me, mine wasn't prewired [img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img]

I'm in the same boat as you Gotchaa, except for I want Sirius instead of XM. If your prewired there's a kit you can get from either www.grubbsinfiniti.com or www.infinitipartsusa.com
