For those who have the 4080 / 10w6v2...

I have a 500/1 and have been waiting to install the sub because i'm worried the 10w6v2 will be too much for the stock system.
Anyone that has added JUST the 500/1 and 10" sub regret it?
How does it sound?

from expeirence installing stuff, i can tell you that if you just did a 10w6, and kept the entire stock system, the subsystem's clean performance will eaisly outmatch the bose...meaning,m at moderate volumes, you will be okay, just sound like the bose system wtih some kick, but if you start to listen to a decenta mount of bass, you are going to notice that the bose system will be crapping out and distroting before it matches the output of the sub...

so in short, will you regret it? i cant say, its based on your listening preference...but i would certainly look to upgrade my front speakres if it was my own car

I say save some money and do it right change all your speakers and add 2 amps. I did the sub with the stock stero at first and I regret it. So then I did the entire car over, much happier now.

Even if I knew I was gonna change the stock speakers, I probably still couldn't wait to add the sub if I had everything ready to go. Add better speakers and another amp when you can, but until then, at least you'll have some bass.

I also just opted for same setup. I can't take the crappy bass of a stock system. Even though the sub does overpower the factory speakers at higher volumes, I simply just adjust it with the bose and jl bass controller. But in the end, to each his own.

I'm gonna go with that same setup I think. Just how loud is the bass with the 500/1 with the 4080 box and a 12W6v2? Is it realy deep and loud or is is just a little boomy? I still wanna hear a 4080 box in person.

Not too sure how the 12w6v2 sounds but i had a 10w6v2 in a 4080 powered by the 500/1. The 500/1 made it hit really hard. I wouldnt categorize he boominess as little. Depending on how you set your gains you can make your car shake! With the limited controls on the stock HU, i'd suggest you get that JL sub control **** as well so you can turn the gain up or down as you wish. But then again i was running it off an aftermarket HU. Btw anyone intersted in my 500/1? Pm me if intersted. thanks

I added a 10w6v2, 4080 and 500/1 and am very happy with the results. I just use the JL bass **** to adjust the amount of bass from in the car and its more than enough for me. I definitely do not regret adding it, I wish I had done it sooner in fact. Pull the trigger, youll be happy you did

Can anyone recommend a shop in West LA, OC, or SD that can do the setup... and is very, very professional? or is there a DIY somewhere out there? Thanks

I can't imagine it sounding too good. I think my 650s (front and rear) and the 300/4 have a hard time keeping up with my 10w6 and 500/1 at times.

my friend installed subs in his CTS with the stock system. In my opinion it sounds like @$$, I can't stand listening to it, but he likes it and thinks it sounds good so idk.

Thanks for the feedback. I actually meant a 10W6v2 instead of a 12". So it sounds like a 500/1 will make the 4080 box shine with a 10W6v2. I'm still contemplating a 4080 box with a 10W6v2 or a Prowedge with a 12W6v2. I'll lose some space but it will probably hit harder and a lil' deeper.
